        Game played at Six Nations
       Minto Cup Championship

      SIX NATIONS ARROWS - 5
     PETERBOROUGH LAKERS - 9

Third time was not a charm for the Six Nations Arrows Express
as they lost a heart breaking 9-5 decision to the Peterborough Lakers
in the Minto Cup championship game at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena on
Saturday evening. This was the Arrows Express 3rd consecutive appearance
in the Minto Cup tournament and the third time they came up short. This one was
particularly disheartening as it was played in front of a huge home town crowd at the ILA.

The game was the Arrows Express third game in three days and less than 24 hours after they
had beaten their previous Minto Cup nemisis the Burnaby Lakers in an emotional victory on
Friday night. The Arrows Express kept the game close in the 1st period as it ended with them
holding a 2-1 lead. But the second period proved their undoing as the Lakers outscored them
7 - 3 and took an 8-5 lead into the 3rd period. The Arrows Express couldn't get their
offense going as they were shut-out and Peterborough added a late goal for the 9 - 5 final

Sid Smith the Arrows Express captain was selected as the tournament's most sportsmanlike
player and received the Jim Bishop Memorial Award. Shawn Evans of the Lakers was selected
tournament MVP.

Arrows Express points were scored by Jon Williams and Jeremy Thompson with 2 goals apiece
and Craig Point added a single. Hughie Johnson and Cody Jacobs both playing the final game
of their junior career had 2 assists each and single were added by Jacob Kicknosway-Loucks,
Sid Smith, Tory Gardner and Cody Jamieson.

Peterborough was led by Shawn Evans with 3 goals &
1 assist and Kyle Sorensen with 1 goal & 4 assists.
